Laserline 860 Manual

Laserline 862TH/862TL - Combined Alarm/Immobiliser MC1 - MIRRC Test No. These instructions are intended to familiarise you with their simple operation. Has anybody got an old Laserline 860 alarm (fitted by Kawasaki to ZZR600's) as a mouse has used our's for a toilet over the winter months.

I guess I'd consider myself as reasonably intelligent, but today I've been reading the user guide for the LaserLine 862 alarm system and I reckon I need a PhD in something to understand it:bag: Since I changed the bike in August I haven't bothered with the alarm system. It 'goes off' every now and then when I turn the ignition key to on, and I just press one of the buttons on the fob and the alarm stops.:bag: After a mistake a while back the battery died and I couldn't restart the bike (even with a fully charged battery). The bike was left for a few days and it restarted without any bother. I guess it reset itself.:unsure2: All of the above has brought me to the conclusion that I need to RTFM!

If I deaden the battery again, I can't exactly wait 3 days to restart it. But this guide is proving to be a challenge. Is there a Ladybird book version available anywhere?:lbhbh: Anyone ever deaden the battery but manage to successfully jump start the bike after, even with the alarm armed. I love this sentence: 'removal of the alarm system fuse or disconnection of motorcycle battery will cause an immediate alarm condition..' No where does it explain how to address 'the condition'. Nednedned 6th November 2011 10:01 PM.

I found this. As I said, I have had exactly the same problem, but now have it fixed. You need to know that inside the box of electronics is a 7.2V NiMH 160mAh rechargeable battery. This is what maintains the alarms ability when the bike is off. After a few days (or seconds when the battery discharged) the alarm reverts to the imobiliser function.

The exact problem described comes about when the battery 'looses' a few cells (it's made from a stack of 6 cells). In my case the battery would not charge to more than 3.6V. The difficult thing was to find a replacement battery. LaserLine did not respond to my e-mail query. Eventually, I found an internet site selling batteries out of the USA who have the exact item (except you will need to cut the small connector off the leads to solder them in. The site is called BatteryBob.com and the item number is 672110, Dog Collar Battery for Sport Dog 650-059 - DC 16; this is a 7.2V 160mAh NiMH battery, 35 x 24 x 15mm in size.

Cost is US$40 for one or $65 for two, plus postage. I just bought one and after they realised there are no zip codes and actually posted it, got the battery 10 days after initial ordering. And now I'm happy again. Harlequin 7th November 2011 12:03 PM. I have similar problem with Laserline 862. It seems to arm itself about 10 seconds after the ignition is turned off.

While the immobiliser is armed the motion isn't and it doesn't respond to any of the fob buttons while the ignition is turned off. When I turn on ignition it beeps and will respond to button A which disarms it and bike starts ok. Checked internal battery in alarm unit and it measures 8.4 volts. Checking other posts on this forum there have been other instances of this problem but no clear indication of what the problem was or whether it was resolved. Tried calling laserline in uk and they weren't much help.

Any recommendations??? Chopper 22nd October 2012 07:54 PM.
Does anyone know where I can get a schematic for the wiring harness or installation instructions for 862. Might try some real fault finding this weekend
The wiring harness on a laserline is completely black. Each wire would have been labeled for the installer to know which was which but they then remove the labels so the scum can't tell how to kill it. Only option is to trace the wires to were they join the bike wiring and remove them, repairing the old wires during the process Jabirujim 24th October 2012 06:18 PM.
